SlabReady ("we", "our", "us") is operated by Brent Kochuba. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. What We Collect
Camera images. When you scan a card, the app captures photos using your device camera. These images are sent to our servers for AI-powered grading analysis. We do not store your card images after processing is complete — they are analyzed and discarded.
Device metadata. We collect basic device information with each scan: device model, OS version, app version, and a random session ID. This helps us diagnose issues and improve the app. We do not collect your name, email, Apple ID, or any personal identifiers.
Motion data. The app uses your device's motion sensors (accelerometer/gyroscope) during capture to detect phone angle and stability. This data is used locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
Scan results. Your grading results, pricing data, and centering measurements are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We store anonymized scan session data (grades, scores, timing) on our servers for quality improvement.
Purchase data. If you purchase scan credits, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive a purchase confirmation but do not have access to your payment information, credit card number, or Apple ID.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To analyze your card images and return grading results
- To look up market pricing for your cards
- To diagnose and fix bugs (via anonymized diagnostic logs)
- To improve our AI grading accuracy over time
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to process your scans:
- Anthropic (Claude AI) — Analyzes card images for grading. Images are sent via API and processed according to Anthropic's privacy policy. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models.
- Groq — Used for binder page scanning (card identification only). Subject to Groq's privacy policy.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
4. Data Storage and Security
Scan session data is stored on servers hosted by Railway (cloud infrastructure). All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Card images are not permanently stored — they are processed in memory and discarded after analysis.
5. Data Retention
- Card images: Not retained after processing
- Scan results: Stored on your device indefinitely (you can delete them in the app). Anonymized server-side session data retained for up to 12 months.
- Diagnostic logs: Retained for up to 90 days for debugging purposes
6. Your Rights
You can delete all locally stored scan data by deleting the app. To request deletion of server-side data associated with your device, contact us at support@slabready.online.
7. Children's Privacy
SlabReady is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
