SlabReady 2.0 Is Here: Sports Cards, Slab Analysis, and a Built-In Marketplace
We started as a Pokémon pre-grading tool. SlabReady 2.0 makes us a full card platform — sports cards, graded slabs, and a marketplace that connects buyers and dealers in the app.
When we launched SlabReady, it did one thing: tell you if your Pokémon card was worth sending to PSA. Useful — but limited. Today we're shipping the biggest update since launch. SlabReady 2.0 adds sports card grading, a dedicated card slab scanner for already-graded cards, forensic corner artifacts that make every grade auditable, and a card dealer marketplace where you can buy and sell cards without leaving the app. Here's everything that's new.
Sports Cards — The Marquee Addition
Basketball, baseball, and football cards are now live in SlabReady. This isn't a Pokémon model with a new label slapped on — the grading engine branches per sport with dedicated logic for each category.
Every sport has its own grading rubric. A basketball card grader needs to understand the centering tolerances on Panini Prizm. A baseball card grader needs to handle the edge characteristics of Topps Chrome. A football card grader needs to account for the surface textures on Optic and Mosaic. SlabReady 2.0 handles all of them with sport-specific PSA 10 rubric branches that reflect real-world grading standards.
Under the hood, a CardSport enum routes each scan through the right grading pipeline — per-sport centering thresholds, per-sport surface analysis, per-sport edge detection. The result: a PSA 10 predictor that's actually calibrated for the card you're scanning, not a one-size-fits-all guess.
Coming soon: MTG and Yu-Gi-Oh! are next in the pipeline. We're tuning those models now.
Graded Slab Mode
Not every card you encounter is raw. Maybe you're at a card show staring at a PSA 9 and wondering if it's legit. Maybe you already own a graded slab and want to list it for sale. SlabReady 2.0 introduces a brand-new flow for cards already in plastic.
Supported Grading Companies
- PSA — grades 1 through 10
- CGC — half grades (e.g., 9.5)
- BGS (Beckett) — half grades with sub-grades
- SGC — full grade scale
Cross-grader translations are built in. SlabReady knows that a BGS 9.5 Gem Mint ≈ PSA 10 and that a CGC Pristine 10 = PSA 10 equivalent. When you scan a slab from any company, you see what the grade means in PSA terms — the lingua franca of the hobby.
🔍 Buyer Use Case
Someone's selling you a CGC 9.5 at a show. Scan the slab. SlabReady verifies the grade, shows the PSA equivalent, and pulls market pricing — so you know whether the asking price makes sense before you hand over cash.
💰 Seller Use Case
You own a PSA 9 you want to move. Scan it, tap "List for Sale," and you're live in the marketplace with a verified grade and market-based pricing — no manual entry, no guesswork.
Forensic Corner Artifacts
The #1 reason cards miss PSA 10 is corner damage. A tiny ding, a micro-fray, a whitening speck — corners are where grades die. SlabReady 2.0 makes corner analysis fully transparent.
Every scan now generates 8 high-resolution corner crops: top-left, top-right, bottom-left, and bottom-right — for both the front and back of the card. Each crop is extracted at a 38% crop fraction from perspective-corrected flat shots, giving you a zoomed-in forensic view that's sharper than what you'd see with a loupe.
Why This Matters
Every grade is now auditable. You can see exactly what the AI saw. Share the corner crops on social media as proof. Send them to a buyer who wants to verify condition before committing. Use them as documentation if a grading company returns a lower grade than expected.
Corner artifacts are also a powerful social proof asset — post your PSA 10 predictions with the corner close-ups and let the community see for themselves.
Wishlist + IOIs
Stop scrolling eBay hoping the card you want shows up. SlabReady 2.0 introduces a two-sided feed that matches buyers and sellers automatically.
- "For Sale" — List a card you want to move. Collectors who want it get notified.
- "Want to Buy" — Tell SlabReady what you're looking for. When someone lists a match, you hear about it first.
In-app messaging connects buyers and sellers directly. No middleman platform. No auction timers. No sniping bots. Just two people making a deal — with AI-verified condition data backing every card.
Dealer Marketplace: Quick Buy + List for Sale
We built the marketplace for two audiences. Here's how it works for each:
🃏 For Collectors
Grade the card. Hit "List for Sale." Done. Your card goes live with a verified AI grade, corner artifacts, and market pricing. Buyers can message you directly. Accept payment however you want — Cash, Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, or Zelle. Zero fees. You keep every dollar.
🏪 For Dealers
Offers come from buyers who already scanned the card, saw the predicted grade, and checked market pricing. They're pre-qualified — they know what the card is, what it's worth, and what condition it's in. No tire-kickers. No lowball offers from people who haven't done their homework.
Payment is direct between buyer and seller: Cash, Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, or Zelle. SlabReady takes zero fees. Zero commission. Zero processing charges. Direct payments mean you keep 100% of the sale — the way selling cards should work.
Grading Engine Improvements
Beyond the headline features, 2.0 includes meaningful improvements to the core AI card grader:
- PSA 10 centering rubric realigned — recalibrated to match PSA's published centering thresholds (60/40 front, 75/25 back)
- Visible edge damage now caps at PSA 8 or lower — if the AI sees edge wear, it won't predict a 9 or 10
- Quick Check subgrade double-injection bug fixed — subgrades now render correctly on every scan
- Grading timeout raised for peak load — no more timeout errors during high-traffic periods
- Capture haptics fixed + new "simplify background" alert when busy backgrounds interfere with edge detection
- Silent shutter — scan cards at shows and shops without drawing attention
What's Next
SlabReady 2.0 is the foundation, not the finish line. Here's what we're building next:
- MTG and Yu-Gi-Oh! support — dedicated grading models for both, in active development
- Web dealer signup — manage your listings and marketplace presence from a browser
- Card Radar — proximity-based matching at card shows. You're looking for a 2023 Wembanyama Prizm Silver? Someone three tables over just listed one. We'll connect you. (More details coming soon.)
